Phil Cole. Phil became Marc Bohland's Spanish teacher as Marc was preparing to visi=t Cuba for the first time in 1999. On his return, Marc enthusiastically recommended that Phil accompany him on the next trip. In the summer of 2000 they traveled together to Cuba. Phil was fascinated. "Having lived in Spain, Central and South America, Cuba was unlike anything I had ever experienced," he comments. Serving on the board since the initial stages as interpreter and translator in the communication process, Phil enjoys the richness of the relationships with the Cuban people but most of all the satisfaction and joy of "loving your neighbor as yourself."
