Bill R. Schmiedicke. In 2003, as a consultant for non profit organizations, Bill was invited to travel to Cuba with the international People to People Program as an ambassador for discussions on social and human needs and an exchange of ideas on how best to meet those needs. This “first hand” connection to the gracious people of Cuba, and the resolve and resourcefulness with which they face a difficult life, awakened a desire to somehow make a difference on a very personal level. On returning home, Bill was fortunate enough to find the First Hand Aid organization which was making life more bearable for families and children battling cancer. He immediately accepted a Board position and has continued to use his experience to help strengthen and expand the positive impact that FHA has on Cuban families. Bill is looking forward to his next humanitarian trip to Cuba.
